Innovative office with conference area on top of an old air-raid shelter, PV facade, and wind power plant The ecoplus Business Park in Wiener Neudorf covers nearly 3 km² — the size of a small town. Approximately 400 companies with around 12,000 employees are based here. At the heart of the site, atop a historic airraid bunker, stands the innovative office of the Lower Austrian business development agency, ecoplus.
The sculptural office extension, including modern conference facilities, serves as a striking symbol of innovation, sustainability, and forward-thinking design. For this project, the existing office spaces were completely revitalized and elevated to a height of 12 meters. State-of-the-art facade technology ensures that all rooms are flooded with natural light while providing effective solar protection—even in strong winds.
Below, the spacious conference area offers an inviting and versatile space. The impressive support-free construction allows for exceptional flexibility in use and design. The original concrete walls of the bunker have been carefully breached to incorporate this modern extension, seamlessly integrating the historic structure into the new development. The bunker also functions as a structural foundation for the new building.
The parking area has been efficiently constructed above ground, creating additional green spaces and enabling the greenery of the bunker to contribute to a better microclimate and reduce urban heat islands. The roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels and colorful facade elements, complemented by a small wind turbine—ensuring local, sustainable energy generation. The entire building has been awarded the Climate Active Gold certification.
